Summer Reading for Young Adults
This year our summer reading is completely virtual for young adults grades 6-12. Have you signed up for our summer reading challenge yet? You can register at chboothlibrary.readsquared.com, and log your reading for chances to win prizes throughout the summer!
How are points calculated? Points are different this year! You can log pages OR books. Every 50 pages = 10 points, OR Every book = 50 points. You can choose how to log each book, but if your book is more than 250 pages we recommend logging pages, because that will get you more points!
How do prizes work? Each week until the end of August we will draw winners using a mix of random drawings and raffles! For our random drawings, you don’t have to do anything – if you signed up to the YA Summer Reading Program on ReadSquared, you’re automatically entered to win, and the more you read, the better your odds of winning! For raffles: check your ReadSquared page to see which raffles are currently open. You can “purchase” raffle tickets using points you earned reading. For now, our prizes are entirely virtual e-gift cards to Amazon, Dunkin’ Donuts, and more! If you win a random drawing or a raffle, we will e-mail you to let you know.
What should you read? Well, whatever you want! If you need suggestions, check out the new 2021 Nutmeg Nominees and the Governor’s Reading List.
Our librarians and volunteers will also be posting book reviews and fun activities all summer on our Instagram page, @chboothya. Enjoy your summer!
Join our scavenger hunt in July!
Each Monday morning in July we will post a new set of challenges. You have all week to complete the challenges – post your work on Instagram and tag us, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
At the end of the summer, we’ll have a virtual showcase of all of our summer adventures!
